Tight on space or looking for something unique? More than just a bunk bed, a loft bedroom takes a room to multiple levels, providing kids with extra space for a desk or play areas. Here are some of the best loft designs we’ve seen!
Coolest High Chair Ever
I wish I could tell you where you can go buy one of these, but unfortunately it’s a custom piece of furniture that a friend of my brother-in-law’s made for his granddaughter. She’ll either grow to love giraffes or to be scared of them, but I would definitely argue that this giraffe high chair is the coolest thing ever.
Enjoy!

Creative Wall Coverings for Children’s Bedrooms
I have a budding artist in my family – she colors on the walls. Her once pretty room is now covered with artwork in marker, Sharpie, crayon, pencil, pen, nail polish, and lipstick. Mixed media anyone?
I came across a great idea recently though – walls DESIGNED for coloring! The first one I came across was using chalkboard paint on the wall of a child’s bedroom. You can either paint the entire wall with chalkboard paint, or paint rectangles and make a decorative border around the outside. I recommend the Rustoleum brand of paint, which you can get from locally from Home Depot or online at Amazon.
Unfortunately, I’m too sensitive to chalk dust, so that idea, while cute, was worse than the lipstick-drawings! Here’s one I like better. Also made by Rustoleum, it’s paint that makes a whiteboard surface on a wall, so you (oops, I mean, your KIDS) can draw on it with dry-erase markers. In fact, you can combine either of these with a layer of metallic paint to make the walls magnetized. (This one looks like a good idea for my office too!)
However, there are some great wallpapers that are made for coloring – preprinted with outlines, like a coloring book. I think my favorite is this one that has preprinted frames, perfect for having a new masterpiece inside each one!
If this is just too enabling for you, consider an idea I read online – purchase a art easel designed for children. Apparently, many children prefer to write and draw vertically, which is one of the reasons they color on walls.
At least we have options!
The Importance of Kids Desks
As a mother of three, I’m starting to see just how important it is for my kids to have their own space to “work”, and we’ve started looking for desks for each of them. For a long time, they colored pictures at the kitchen table, but it’s a huge benefit to be able to send them to their own spaces when they need time apart, whether they are fighting or just need to concentrate.
Kids Desks for Homework
My oldest is in elementary school and has real homework, and he needs a place where all of his supplies are at close hand, and that isn’t so close to the TV that he’s easily distracted. He also needs a storage area to keep his library books and school supplies, and an area he can “decorate” and make his own, so he feels a sense of ownership and pride in the space.
Kids Desks for Art
All of my children like art, but my middle child needs the most help finding an appropriate outlet. For her, we’re looking for something that looks exciting and stimulates her creativity. Lots of colors, an easel perhaps, and storage for all of her creations are the requirements. And as before, places to keep supplies so they are always at hand (and near paper, not the furniture or walls!)
Toddler Desks
And for my youngest, who is three, we want something that makes her feel like a big girl, equal in importance to her older siblings, but still age appropriate. Some of the great kids desks are available in smaller sizes that are perfect for preschoolers, with bright colors and contemporary lines that keep them fashionable.
Whatever you choose, finding a kid’s desk that is comfortable and functional is important to helping them develop skills such as drawing, writing, and completing homework once they are in school.
Biker Babes – A Harley Davidson Bedroom
It’s no secret that the motorcycle culture has become much more mainstream than it used to be. And nothing symbolizes the open road like the Harley Davidson brand. Your little one might be too young for the bike, but he (or she!) can still have a terrific Harley Davidson bedroom!

There are a lot of great Harley Davidson licensed products for a child’s bedroom. You can find comforters and sheet sets, toy boxes, wallpaper, and curtains with Harley logos and motorcycle designs. And instead of buy a rocking horse, look at the Harley Softail Rockers instead – there’s even a pink one for girls.
For a color theme, pull from the Harley Davidson logo and use black and burnt orange. You can make the room less overpowering by using a neutral color for walls and floors, and focus the colors on the bedding and accessories instead. Or maybe pain just one wall a burnt orange as a focal wall, behind the bed’s headboard. If you’re a talented enough painter, you might even try recreating the orange flames on the walls.
Add to the theme by hanging an old leather jacket on a wooden peg, and finding items like a tire-shaped clock. A few Harley Davidson collectibles on a shelf can complete the look.
Just in time to help you kid become a “Biker Baby!”
